5/23/2013 - University of Charleston Enactus Team Records Top 40 Finish at Nationals
KANSAS CITY, Mo.  - For the second consecutive year, the University of Charleston Enactus team (formerly SIFE) secured a finish among the top 40 teams in the country on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Enactus National Expo in Kansas City, Mo.

5/22/2013 - University of Charleston Enactus Team Wins Lowe's Community Improvement Grand Prize in Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, Mo.  - The University of Charleston Enactus team (formerly SIFE) claimed the Lowe's Community Improvement Grand Prize and a $5,000 check on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the Enactus United States National Expo in Kansas City, Mo.   

5/16/2013 - University of Charleston School of Pharmacy Garners National Award
Washington, D.C. -- Today, the National Consumers League (NCL) and its partners announced the awardees of the second annual Script Your Future Medication Adherence Team Challenge for health profession students. This month-long competition engaged health profession students and faculty in developing creative ideas for raising awareness about medication adherence as a critical public health issue.   This year’s awardees are:  St. Louis College of Pharmacy, University of Charleston School of Pharmacy, University of the Pacific Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, Touro University College of Pharmacy California, and The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. 

4/30/2013 - Law and Ethics Expert Robert George to Serve as University of Charleston Commencement Speaker

Charleston, W.Va.  – Renowned constitutional law expert and West Virginia native Robert P. George will address University of Charleston graduates at Spring Commencement on Sunday, May 5 at 2 p.m. on the school’s Riverfront Lawn in Charleston, W.Va.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston-Beckley will host a visit day for prospective students on Saturday, April 20, from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

4/10/2013 - University of Charleston to Host Second Annual UC Half Marathon & 5K
Charleston, W.Va. )– Students from the University of Charleston Sports Administration program are hosting the second annual UC Half Marathon and 5K on Sunday, April 28. The event will take place through Kanawha City and start and end on UC’s Charleston campus.

4/5/2013 - University of Charleston Choir to Host Spring Concert
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Concert Choir and University Singers will present their annual Spring Concert on Sunday, April 21 at 1 p.m. The event will take place in Riggleman Hall’s Erma Byrd Art Gallery on UC’s Kanawha City campus.

4/4/2013 - University of Charleston Announces Cut in Cost of UC-Beckley Residence Hall Rates
Beckley, W.Va. – University of Charleston Regional President Jerry Forster today announced a special room rate for UC-Beckley residence halls of $1,800 for the 2013-14 academic school year, or half the cost of this year.

4/3/2013 - University of Charleston, Blue Ridge Community & Technical College Sign Transfer Agreement
Charleston, W.Va. – University of Charleston Regional President Jerry Forster and Blue Ridge Community & Technical College (BRCTC) President Peter G. Checkovich today signed an articulation and 2+2 agreement which allows BRCTC students to easily transition into select bachelor’s degree programs at UC after completing an associate’s degree. The signing took place today on the BRCTC campus located in the in Martinsburg, W.Va.

3/28/2013 - University of Charleston to Host Davisson Brothers Band as Part of UC Preview Day
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Davisson Brothers Band and special guest Owen Schmitt will rock the University of Charleston’s Riverfront Lawn as part of UC Preview Day on Saturday, April 27. The concert kicks off at 4 p.m. with opening band Joe Taxi, and the Davisson Brothers follow at 5 p.m. The concert is sponsored by WQBE.

3/27/2013 - University of Charleston Enactus Team Claims Fourth Consecutive Regional Championship
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Enactus (formerly SIFE) team captured its fourth consecutive regional championship on Wed., March 20, 2013 in Charlotte, N.C.

3/22/2013 - University of Charleston Announces $1.5 Million Gift - Opens New Simulation Lab
Charleston, W.Va. – Students in the University of Charleston’s Health Science Programs have a new place to practice real-world procedures thanks in part to a $1.5 million donation to the school from the Estate of former Kanawha County Circuit Judge Robert K. Smith. The new simulation lab located in Riggleman Hall was unveiled on Friday, March 22 to a crowd of faculty, students and family of Judge Smith.

Charleston, W.Va. (March 19, 2013) – University of Charleston President Ed Welch today announced a freeze of undergraduate tuition for the 2013-14 school year, keeping the school's tuition over $5,500 below the national average for private universities in the United States.

2/27/2013 - Vatican Astronomer to Highlight University of Charleston Speaker Series
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Speaker Series will take attendees to the heavens, stars and the Vatican as President of the National Committee for Astronomy, Vatican City State, Father Christopher Corbally speaks on Tuesday, March 26, on both the UC-Charleston and UC-Beckley campuses. The event, titled “Star Wars: When Astronomy & Religion Meet,” will focus on the connections between space and religion.

Dr. Brittany Snodgrass, UCSOP Class of 2012, has been awarded a $1,000.00 APhA foundation Incentive Grant.  Dr. Snodgrass is currently a post graduate year 1 community pharmacy resident at Fruth Pharmacy in Point Pleasant, WV.

2/14/2013 - University of Charleston Students to Hold Canned Food Drive at Local Kroger Locations
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Enactus (formerly known as SIFE) team will be collecting canned goods for the Union Mission from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday at the Ashton Place and Riverwalk Plaza Kroger locations. The canned food drive is held in conjunction with the Campbell's Soup "Let's Can Hunger" national campaign.

2/8/2013 - University of Charleston School of Pharmacy Students Join National Challenge
Charleston, W.Va. - To improve prescription medication adherence in the Kanawha Valley, the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy has joined the national Script Your Future Challenge and will host a free community health fair on Tuesday, February 12, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Riggleman Hall Rotunda on the University’s Kanawha City campus. Attendees will be able to receive several free screenings, including: glucose, cholesterol, bone density and more.

2/7/2013 - University of Charleston to Host Multi-State Residence Hall Conference
Charleston W.Va. - For the first time in school history, the University of Charleston will host the Central Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (CAACURH) “No Frills” Residential Leadership Conference February 8-10. The conference will take place on the University of Charleston’s Kanawha City campus and at the Ramada Inn South Charleston.
