Charleston, W.Va. – The University of Charleston once again ranked among the top Regional Colleges in the South according to the 2013 U.S.News & World Report’s Best Colleges. Charleston is number 14 of the 119 colleges that made the list. “Regional Colleges” are schools that focus on the undergraduate experience and offer a broad range of programs, but grant fewer than half their degrees in liberal arts disciplines.
University of Charleston President Ed Welch said, “It is wonderful that UC is consistently ranked among the top institutions in the South. Rankings are one of many indicators that UC is a wise investment for students and their families, and we are looking forward to expanding access to a UC education to Beckley, Martinsburg, and perhaps other locations.”
The University of Charleston is a small college with a big reputation. Known for its distinctive Learning Your Way curriculum, UC is home to over 1,400 students from 34 countries and 31 states. Last week, the college reported that this fall’s full-time enrollment is the second highest in the past 40 years.
