UC Radiology Students Help with United Way Food Drive

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The United Way of Central West Virginia and local Kroger stores are teaming up to help fight hunger.

About 45 students from the University of Charleston's Radiologic Science Group decorated food barrels provided by Mountain Mission before dropping them off at the participating Kroger stores. The following area Kroger stores have donation barrels: Ashton Place, Cross Lanes, Delaware Avenue, Kanawha City, Riverwalk Mall in South Charleston, and St. Albans. 

The food drive runs through Sept. 11 and leads up to a "day of caring" on Sept. 11 benefits Covenant House, Heart and Hand, Manna Meal, Mountain Mission, Nitro Food Pantry, The Salvation Army and Tyler Mountain/Cross Lanes Community Services.

Peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, canned meat such as chicken and tuna, cereal, oatmeal, soup, dried beans, canned beans and canned pasta are all needed pantry items.
