U.S. News Ranks University of Charleston Among Top Regional Colleges

Charleston, W.Va. –  The University of Charleston once again ranked among the First Tier Regional Colleges in the South according to the 2012 U.S.News & World Report’s Best Colleges.  Charleston is number 14 of the 98 schools ranked.  “Regional colleges” are schools that focus almost entirely on the undergraduate experience and offer a broad range of programs in the liberal arts and in fields such as business, nursing, and education.

University of Charleston President Ed Welch said, “We are gratified to again be recognized by U.S.News & World Report as a top-tier institution.  This honor recognizes not only our growth and achievements of the past decade, but also the commitment of our faculty and everyone at UC to delivering an excellent education.”

The University of Charleston is a small college with a big reputation.  Known for its distinctive Learning Your Way curriculum, UC is home to approximately 1,400 students from 34 states and 30 countries.  Students have the benefit of being in the capital city of West Virginia, with all its cultural and entertainment advantages, while also enjoying easy access to outdoor activities and the Appalachian Mountains.
