With the exceptions of the core requirements and meeting the 120-hour UC requirement, specific courses vary each semester. History is a fairly flexible major and taking some courses outside the major is encouraged.
The History major requires a total of 39 hours of coursework — 24 hours of core requirements and 15 elective hours. Beyond these requirements, the major requires that students take a minimum of 81 hours outside the program to satisfy the 120 hour requirement for graduation. Students must also, when constructing their plan of study, meet all of the Liberal Learning Outcomes required for graduation by the University of Charleston.
