IT Support Helpdesk Technician

Assist university faculty and staff with computer needs. Provide basic trouble shooting for university computers and technical equipment. Correct user problems and answer questions through telephone and email support. Provide logon and email support to all students, faculty and staff. Work with other IT staff to service the technology needs of the University. Use campus ticketing systems to log any and all IT related work requests. 


Answer inbound support calls

Respond to inquiries and requests for assistance with the university’s computer systems or PC’s

Use campus ticketing systems to log any and all IT related work requests

Provide logon support, to campus systems and email

General PC repairs 

Event setups and takedowns  

Other duties as assigned


Skills / Abilities and Knowledge

Ability to work with and have knowledge of many operating systems including:

o Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010 (Access, Excel, IE, Outlook, Powerpoint, Publisher, Word)

o Adobe Acrobat Professional

o Basic Help Desk Software and Procedural task 

Strong knowledge of computer hardware/software installation and troubleshooting procedures

Ability to work independently and collegially with little supervision

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Ability to approach problems and people with a professional minded mannerism

Ability to work in a developing and changing technological environment

Customer service oriented

Highly motivated and a team player

Ability to be on-time

Ability to communicate effectively with various customers, e.g., students, faculty, external contacts, and supervised staff

Good problem solving skills and decision making

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

Flexible, resourceful, willing to learn / cross-train / teach

Receptive to feedback from all constituents

Ability to organize and prioritize effectively

Knowledge of Projectors and PA systems a plus

Set up audio, video, and lighting equipment for University events

Provide AV equipment and services to external groups as required by the Office of Catering and Special Events

Repair and maintain audiovisual equipment

Perform other duties as assigned


Associates Degree in Computer Science or comparable certifications or related work experience of at least 1 year required. A+ certification a plus. 


Typical Office hours between 7:00am-9:00pm, weekend and evening hours maybe required

Business Causal dress policy

Medium work: Lifting up to 50 lbs, frequent carrying of objects of 25+ lbs

Climbing, Balancing, Stooping and Bending required

Hearing and vision required
