David & Anna Morris, '62 & '63
The University of Charleston (Morris Harvey College) holds a special place in our hearts, and we are very appreciative of President Welch, the trustees, and other supporters for elevating the University to its present status. David and Anna (Anderson) Morris met while students at Morris Harvey College (now the University of Charleston). David graduated in 1962 (BA, Political Science) and Anna in 1963 (BA, English). David grew up in rural Elkview, WV and Anna in rural Winfield, WV. While their parents never attended high school, they were very supportive of their children and the value of education. We married in 1963 and continued our education at Penn State University. Neither would have been able to pursue higher education without scholarships and financial and work assistance. David began a career with the Illinois state government in 1964 and retired in 1998. Anna taught high school English for more than 30 years. In order to show our appreciation for those who supported us, we are attempting to contribute to others and the schools we greatly care about. At the University of Charleston, we have established a memorial scholarship in the names of David's late parents, Charles Sennett and Mary Elizabeth Morris. We hope that such assistance will help others to lead happy and successful lives.
