Page Breaks

February 7, 2011

A lot of people are confused about Page Breaks and Section Breaks, so we are going to brush up on them this week and next.

The most important thing to remember: Do not press Enter, Enter, Enter until you get to the next page!

Second important thing to remember: Insert a Page Break if you are not planning on changing any of the formatting on the next page –page orientation, page numbering, margins, headers & footers, columns or styles.

If you want to go to a new page from a particular point on your page, insert a manual Page Break. There are two ways to do this:

  1. Click the Insert tab/Pages group/ Page Break. This method just inserts the break, without opening the dialog box to see your choices.
  2. Click the Page Layout tab/ Page Setup group/ Breaks. This will open the dialog box so you can choose which type of break you want to insert. Click Page in the Page Breaks section.
