EMBA National Guard Program Description

The Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) National Guard Program is a fourteen-month program designed for active members of the National Guard who hold a bachelor's degree.

Learning Approach

  • Problem-solving. Participants learn creative thinking and the importance of group interaction in problem-solving.
Specific emphasis is placed on recognizing and adapting to change, recognizing potential programs, analyzing possible solutions, and initiating proper guidelines to prevent recurrence.
  • Teamwork. All five modules of the EMBA program are heavily geared to team participation.
  • Business writing and public speaking. The program emphasizes efficient and clear business writing, and speaking confidently and clearly in presentations.
  • Capstone Based. Throughout the program, teams of students analyze and make recommendations for a West Virginia business, resulting in a great learning experience for the team and practical suggestions for improvement by the participating company.

International Practicum

Today's business is not conducted in a vacuum, and today's business leaders need a working knowledge of global business. During the fourth module, students participate in an international practicum lasting approximately ten days, during which they have opportunities to personally observe the business practices of that particular region of the world. Recent destinations have included Germany, Spain, Argentina, Great Britain, Ireland, France, and Italy.
