Annual Fund
College is expensive. Did you know that tuition and fees paid by University of Charleston students and their families cover only slightly more than half of the cost of their education each year? Gifts from alumni, parents, friends, businesses, and foundations provide the additional dollars needed to meet these expenses.
The Annual Fund forms the foundation of UC’s fundraising efforts each year. These unrestricted gifts go to work immediately, helping all students, because they can be used where they are needed most. UC is preparing students for the future, but their challenges remain the same:
- Finding ways to pay tuition
- Working extra jobs and balancing schoolwork
- Gaining valuable experience through internships that complement their career and personal goals
- Participating in meaningful extracurricular activities that are a vital part of the UC experience
Contributions to the Annual Fund help our students meet these challenges in a number of ways, including:
- Annually funded scholarships (PACE)
- Campus work-study jobs
- Laboratory equipment purchases
- Campus beautification and improvements
- Library books and equipment
- Faculty and staff enrichment
Please consider a contribution to the UC Annual Fund. All gifts, no matter what the size, benefit students at UC.
Does alumni participation matter? Yes! A strong showing by UC/MHC alumni gives UC increased credibility with donors, especially foundations, and is an important factor in college rankings.
