English Education (5–Adult)

The English Education certification provides graduates with the skills necessary to teach English and Language Arts in grades 5 through adult. Students take a variety of content specific English courses along with taking an English methods course. This methods course focuses on understanding theory, research, instructional strategies, and the practice of teaching middle and high school English with a 20-hour field experience. Students obtaining an English education degree may also get an English degree if they complete the Senior Capstone in English course (ENGL 405).
