UC announces BrickStreet as athletics sponsor

CHARLESTON, W.Va. BrickStreet Insurance is the official sponsor of athletics for the University of Charleston Golden Eagles, the school announced Tuesday.

The "Our Town, Our Teams" promotion which features the BrickStreet logo will appear on billboards, posters, schedule cards, game day passes, the University of Charleston Web site, etc.

Greg Burton, the president and chief executive officer of BrickStreet Insurance, declined to say how much the company paid for the promotional deal, which will last three years.

"We won't be releasing the dollar amount, but it's one we're very comfortable with," he said.

Burton, a graduate of the university, said the promotional deal is a good way to support the school's athletics and interact with UC students who might come to work at BrickStreet.

UC President Ed Welch hopes the promotion extends beyond three years.

"We hope so, if it's beneficial to them and beneficial to us," he said. "We want to be good stewards of their investment."

Welch said this type of promotional deal is "a first for us."
