New Twist in UC Implosion Auction
Anna Baxter
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) A former University of Charleston baseball player was named the top bidder of an auction to implode Building 82 in South Charleston, but he won't be the one to push the button.
The university set up an e-bay auction last week to determine who will push the button to implode the building.
Chris Belcher, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was the top bidder at $5,207. Belcher is a native of St. Albans and owns Pinnacle Environmental Consultants, Inc.
Belcher is giving the winning ticket to the UC Golden Eagles baseball program to hold a raffle for a new winner.
Tickets for the right to implode Building 82 will go on sale Tuesday for $10 at the Athletic Office in Eddie King Gym.
The raffle drawing will be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday at home plate of Triana Field.
Belcher played baseball at the University of Charleston in the mid-80s.
The implosion is set for Saturday, March 28. WSAZ and WSAZ.com will have live coverage of the event.
