Radiologic Science

Overview of Program

Radiologic Science is the health profession involved in the direct administration of ionizing radiation for disease diagnosis and injury assessment. Since their accidental discovery in 1895, x-rays have been recognized as an essential tool designed to assist physicians in medical diagnosis. Technological advances and the addition of new imaging modalities place radiologic sciences among the most dynamic fields in clinical medicine.

The Radiologic Science Program provides challenging academic and clinical education for the development of the radiography student as a compassionate, responsible, and multi competent radiography professional. This program will prepare students to use diagnostic imaging equipment to produce images of the tissues, organ, bones, and vessels of the body.

Graduates of the University of Charleston Radiologic Science Program earn a Bachelor of Science degree and are eligible to take the national certification exam from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

National Certification

The graduates of the Radiologic Science program pass rate on the national certification exam given by the ARRT is 98% over the last four years.

  • May 2013 Graduate ARRT credentialing exam pass rate of 100%  (9/9 Students) 
  • Five-year average job placement rate of 98% (48/49 Students) within six months of graduation

  • Annual program graduation rate of 83.3% (10/12 Students)
