UC Scholarships

Get accepted to the University of Charleston and you could get significant scholarships for college!

The University of Charleston Office of Financial Aid works with each student individually to put together the very best financial aid package. In order to be considered for scholarships and financial aid at the University of Charleston, students are required to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

University of Charleston Scholarships 2012–2013

The scholarships listed here are for undergraduate students only. Scholarships do not apply to graduate programs at the University of Charleston.

SCHOLARSHIPS REQUIREMENTS AWARD INFORMATION
Presidential Scholars*
  • ACT score of 28 or higher or SAT score of 1250+
  • Academic GPA of 3.5+
  • Must Live on Campus
  • Limited number of awards
 
  • Tuition and Room Scholarship (meal plan included).
  • Not to be combined with other University scholarships.
  • Must compete at an Experience UC Scholarship Day.
  • Limited number awarded.
  • Outside scholarships and grants may reduce the University contribution to the total award.
 
Welch Colleague Scholarship * 
  • 3.0 GPA minimum & 22 ACT/1030 SAT
  • Community service and leadership involvement
  • Submit resume or list of extracurricular and co-curricular involvement
 
  • $5,000.00 per year
 
Merit Scholarship
  • 3.0 GPA minimum & 22 ACT/1030 SAT
 
  • $1,000.00-4,000.00 per year.
 
Leonard Riggleman 
  • 2.5 GPA minimum
 
  • $1,000.00-4,000.00 per year.
 
Student Ambassador 
  • 3.0 GPA minimum
  • Willing to work in Admissions Office each week
 
  • $2,000.00 per year
 
UC Scholarships 

Freshman & Transfer Students

 

  • Based on high school GPA and ACT/SAT scores for freshmen
  • Or based on college GPA for transfers
 
  • Awards vary.
 
Athletic Scholarships
 &
Cheerleading Scholarships
  • Must be an outstanding NCAA Division II level athlete and meet UC Admissions Requirements
  • Offered by athletic coaches
 
  • Awards vary by team.
  • May  not be combined with other UC scholarships.
 
Chorus & Pep Band Scholarships
  • Music major not required
  • Participation in Concert Choir or Pep Band. Private voice study while at UC for vocal students.
 
  • Awards vary by musical program.
 

Several other scholarship opportunities exist, including Legacy Scholarships, Need Grants, UC Grants, and more. These programs are designed to help make a high-quality private university education affordable.

  • Award levels may change depending on on- residential status (on-campus or off-campus).
